Aviation Institute of Maintenance helps adult students gain the skills and attitudes necessary for a meaningful entry-level career position. The Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) program will prepare graduates for entry level positions within the HVAC industry. Students will receive practical hands-on instruction in Air Conditioning, Heating Systems, Residential and Commercial Refrigeration, Heat Pumps, Hydronics and many other areas. The mission of the program will prepare the student with the skills and aptitudes necessary for a meaningful entry level position in the HVAC industry. The student will learn mechanical and electrical applications in residential and light commercial Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration (HVACR). They will develop skills in preventive and corrective maintenance for residential heating and cooling systems and calculate cooling and heating demands for residential applications.

The Maintenance Technician program draws from AIM’s core coursework in professional maintenance fields, introducing the student to electricity, surfaces and controls, transportation structures, power systems, hydraulics, and electrical control systems. The student is also guided in following process procedures, adequately documenting maintenance procedures within forms and records, ensuring a safe and compliant working environment, and developing skills as a maintenance professional.
The program features specialized instruction within areas such as nondestructive testing, inspection, and assessment of maintenance projects, welding, wind energy, 3D printing, or other areas that the local campus and employers have designated as essential within the maintenance industry. The Program & Courses also includes the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) 10- hour general safety online certification. The Maintenance Technician program prepares the student for entry-level employment within a wide variety of maintenance-related fields. Maintenance technicians serve in a growing number of fields, including transportation, robotics, commercial buildings, and real estate, large and small engine repair, theme park ride maintenance, automotive repair, and many other industries.
