Air Conditioning, Heating, & Refrigeration Program
Do you enjoy working with your hands, repairing things, and solving problems? At STVT, our ACHR training program can help you turn those interests into a career. Through HVAC technician training, you'll learn hands-on from industry-experienced instructors who have worked in this exciting field. They can teach you the skills you need to become a professional HVAC Technician.
Our program includes a focus on installation, maintenance, and repair of a variety of systems, including heating and air conditioning systems, coolers, chillers, ice makers, and more. You'll also learn the theory of cooling and heating that supports all of these systems' operations.
Where do ACHR Technicians work?
ACHR professionals typically work for building equipment contractors, commercial & industrial machinery & equipment repair shops, and hardware, plumbing, & equipment wholesalers.
Many ACHR Technicians, once they meet specific state requirements, choose to be self-employed, allowing them to own their own business and to set their work schedules and the number of hours they work each week.
South Texas Vo-Tech campuses in Weslaco and Brownsville are accredited by the Council on Occupational Education (COE). South Texas Vo-Tech campuses in Corpus Christi, McAllen, and San Antonio are accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC).
