This 48 quarter credit program is designed to provide the student with knowledge and skills necessary for entry-level employment in the field of heating, ventilation, and refrigeration as well as customer service skills in this field. With the introduction of computer controlled heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems, increasingly advanced technology is required to control indoor climate conditions, production processes, and food preservation. Graduates will be qualified for entry-level employment in the HVAC-R field in positions such as HVAC-R Technician, HVAC Service Tech, and Refrigeration Technician, to name a few.
Throughout the course work, students will be mentored by their instructors about the techniques of finding and retaining a job. The topics that will be incorporated into the lessons include interviewing skills, human relations, resume preparation, team building, professional appearance and behavior, workplace dynamics and ethics, and development of good work habits. The graduate can expect to gain entry-level employment in a career including but not limited to: service technician, installation technician, apprentice heating technician, and building maintenance positions. Graduates of this program may need to relocate to secure employment after completing their studies.
