About

Florida Technical College was founded in 1982 to provide post-secondary training in specialized business fields. The main campus in Orland opened in 1982, followed by the Lakeland campus in 1990, and the DeLand campus in 1997. Classes began at the Kissimmee, Pembroke Pines, and Tampa campuses in 2011, and the South Miami campus opened in 2015.

After 40 years of serving Florida’s educational needs, Florida-Technical College has merged with NUC University which until now had been a sister Institution. In addition, NUC University brought two other colleges under its umbrella, The Digital Animation & Visual Effects (DAVE) School in Florida and IBC Institute in Puerto Rico, for a combined total of 15 campuses and 20,000 students in both Puerto Rico and Florida.

HVAC/R with PLC - Diploma

The HVAC/R with PLC Diploma Program offers students the technical and practical knowledge and skills to perform heating, refrigeration, and air conditioning maintenance, installations, and repairs. Students will also learn basic skills related to the programmable logic controllers (PLCs). Graduates from this program will be able to fill positions at construction firms, as well as residential and commercial refrigeration and air conditioning companies.

Students are eligible to take the following certification tests: EPA 608 Universal and OSHA 10. A total of 920 contact hours is required and divided into 500 lecture hours and 420 lab hours. Employment opportunities include HVAC Mechanic, A/C Tech, HVAC Installer, HVAC Service Technician, Systems Maintenance Mechanic.

HVAC/R - Diploma

The Heating, The Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration (HVAC/R) Diploma Program prepares students with the knowledge and necessary skills to develop efficient and safety-minded technicians that will be able to fill an entry level position in the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning field. In addition, they will acquire the necessary skills, to perform installation tasks, service and repairs in heating, refrigeration, and air conditioning equipment. This program is designed to prepare graduates to take the certifications from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).

Students are eligible to take the following certification tests: EPA 608 Universal and OSHA 10 Safety. A total of 960 contact hours is required and divided into 520 lecture hours and 440 lab hours. Employment opportunities include HVAC Repair Specialist, HVAC Assistant Installer, and HVAC Technician Apprentice.

HVAC/R - Diploma (Spanish)

El Programa de Diploma de Calefacción, Ventilación, Aire Acondicionado y Refrigeración (HVAC/R) prepara al estudiante con el conocimiento y las destrezas necesarios para su desarrollo como técnico eficiente y consciente de la seguridad, capaz de ocupar puestos de nivel básico en el campo de la calefacción, ventilación y aire acondicionado. Además, el estudiante adquirirá las destrezas necesarias para realizar tareas de instalación, servicio y reparación en equipos de calefacción, refrigeración y aire acondicionado. Este programa está diseñado para preparar al egresado para tomar las certificaciones de la Agencia de Protección Ambiental (EPA) y la Administración de Salud y Seguridad Ocupacional (OSHA).

HVAC/R with PLC - Diploma (Spanish)

El Programa de Diploma en HVAC/R con PLC ofrece al estudiante el conocimiento y las destrezas técnicas y prácticas para realizar tareas de instalación, servicio y reparaciones en las áreas de la calefacción, la refrigeración y el aire acondicionado. El estudiante también adquirirá destrezas básicas relacionadas con los controladores lógicos programables (PLC, por sus siglas en inglés). Los graduados de este programa podrán ocupar puestos en empresas de construcción, así como en compañías de refrigeración y aire acondicionado tanto residenciales como comerciales. Los graduados de este programa podrán ocupar puestos como:Mecánico/Técnico /Asistente de instalación Servicio técnico de HVAC y Mecánico de mantenimiento de sistemas HVAC.

Los estudiantes son elegibles para tomar los siguientes exámenes de certificación: EPA 608 Universal OSHA 10 Safety.
