Florida Academy’s HVAC/R Technology program in Fort Myers offers a nationally accredited, hands-on path for students looking to enter the workforce quickly. Moving beyond traditional textbooks, the program emphasizes practical experience by having students work directly with industry-standard equipment from brands like Carrier, Bryant, and Lennox. Under the guidance of professional instructors, students master essential field skills such as wiring high- and low-voltage lines, soldering and brazing, and maintaining systems ranging from residential air conditioners to commercial RTUs. To bridge the gap between graduation and employment, the academy also provides dedicated job placement assistance.

Florida Academy’s HVAC/R Technology program is focused on providing hands-on training in simulated real world environments. In this program students will can expect to learn:

The Mechanical Construction Professional program is a comprehensive, hands-on training course designed to bridge the gap between electrical systems and HVAC/R technology. Spanning 8 to 12 months, the program focuses on the technical installation, maintenance, and repair of the essential systems that power and climate-control residential and commercial buildings.

The curriculum is split into two primary disciplines, ensuring students develop a versatile technical foundation:

• Electrical Systems: Students gain a deep understanding of electrical theory (including Ohm’s, Joule’s, and Kirchhoff’s laws) and the application of the National Electrical Code (NEC). Practical training includes assembling commercial and residential wiring, installing raceways, and wiring standard loads such as water heaters and pumps.
• HVAC & Refrigeration: The program covers heating and cooling cycles, refrigeration mechanics, and control systems. A heavy emphasis is placed on diagnostic troubleshooting for mechanical and electrical issues within HVAC units.

Training takes place in specialized labs that simulate real-world job-site conditions. This immersive environment allows students to practice assembling complex systems and solving the same mechanical challenges faced by industry professionals.
